ABOUT THE FILM
This film was commissioned by BlackRock to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of the firm. Larry Fink, Ralph Schlosstein, Sue Wagner, Barbara Novick, Rob Kapito, and the other founders of BlackRock transformed what began as a tiny fixed income stop, beginning with 8 people in a single office (with one couch and one phone) in 1988, into a trillion dollar global asset management firm – a firm which was grounded around the concept of risk-management.
The documentary examines the entrepreneurial roots of the company founders as well as the companies which joined the BlackRock family: State Street Research, Merrill Lynch Investment Management, and Quellos. The film screened at Gotham Hall in New York at an extraordinary event hosted by BlackRock. Screenings and “town halls” were held in various locations throughout the world.
